Electrical devices ‘disrupt birds navigation’

According to the article ‘Electrical devices disrupt bird navigation’ published this May on bbc, electrical devices may disrupt the migrations of some birds. A group of scientist state that weak electromagnetic fields produced by equipment plugged into mains electricity interfere with the animals.

In addition, this study has been published in the journal Nature which has a deep impact in knowledge. It’s known that some birds perform remarkable feats of navigation, migrating half way around the world. It is thought that birds are helped by the magnetic field. The study says that low frequency waves could interfere that migration of some birds. Lots of experiments have been done from more than 40 years to demonstrate it. Scientist do not yet understand how a bird’s magnetic works. This group of researches still have to study more about birds and their behaviour.

To sum up, this kind of works are useful and very interesting to improve and understand birds and other animals, In my opinion, I absolutely agree with these types of investigations. Science is a strong tool to know more about us and our environment.

Why you think your phone is vibrating when it is not

The article of the BBC written by Tom Strafford talks about if it’s a hallucination when we think that our mobile phone is ringing.

The eighty per cent of the people have imagined a phone vibrating I our pockets when it’s actually completely still. Firstly was thought to be madness caused by digital culture but then  the scientists who had investigate about this say that it’s a psychological problem. They call it Signal Detection Theory.  They had arrived to this conclusion because the people are obsessed in the new technologies; we need to be connected all the time. As a result of this people imagine that someone is phoning them but the phone isn’t doing anything.

With this article I had realized that we are so introduced in the new technologies that our brain is starting to think things that are happening but in the reality they are not coming about. Everything is imagined by our brain.  We have arrived in the situation that we cannot be less than an hour without looking the mobile phone. Is it really healthy for us?

Paris to tourists: Stop locking down love

This new of the BBC written by Kim Laidlaw talks about the locks of the Pont des Arts Bridge.
The pilgrimageof the couples has converted in an actual controversy in Paris because the city is divided in two: ones think that they should stop putting locks and the others think that they must keep doing this.

The first’s ones think that because the architects say that the bridge has too much weight because of the padlocks. For this reason the hall is introducing steps for not to put more locks in the bridge.

As I said before many people agree with this, moreover they find it’s a waste of time and it’s an eyesore for the culture. In my point of view I’m with the other half, this has to live on but if it’s damaging the structure of the bridge, why don’t we start another one? Or simpler, Why not to reinforce it?
